How to Use - Starting Five App
1. Landing Page
When you open the app, you automatically land on today's date with the first matchup of the day. The most frequently used starting lineups for each team in the current season are pre-selected for you.
You can still customize the lineups using the dropdown menus to select different players for each position.
2. Select Different Matchups
Use the orange "Today's Games" section to:
- Browse all games for the selected date
- Use the calendar to go back to past games
- Analyze historical matchups and lineups
- Click "CLICK TO LOAD TEAMS" to load any matchup
3. Team Header - View Game History
The team header cards are clickable! Click on any team to view:
- Overall record (Wins/Losses)
- Home and Away records
- Recent game history with scores and stats
4. Team Game History Details
In the team game history modal, you can:
- Filter games by All, Home, or Away
- See detailed stats for each game (Score, FG%, 3P%, REB, AST)
- View game results (Win/Loss)
- Click "More Stats" for detailed breakdowns
5. Roster - Player Stats
Click the "Roster" button on any team card to view:
- Complete player list with positions
- RAPTOR ratings (advanced player metric)
- Games played (GP), Minutes (MIN), Points (PTS)
- Rebounds (REB), Assists (AST), and other stats
- Click the chart icon for game-by-game statistics
6. ML Model Categories - Different Prediction Models
After analyzing a matchup, you'll see predictions from different ML model categories:
- Stats Models - Based on traditional basketball statistics
- Strength (25-26) - Current season strength metrics
- ELO Models - ELO rating-based predictions
- ELO+Strength - Combined ELO and strength analysis
- Kombiniert - Ensemble model combining all approaches
Each category shows:
- Confidence levels for each team's win probability
- Number of models in each category
- Historical Accuracy ▼ - Click to see how well each model performed in the past
- Individual model breakdowns with their historical accuracy percentages
7. Top Starting Five Combinations
Below the matchup analysis, you'll see the Top Starting Five Combinations for each team:
- Most used lineup in the current season
- Number of games this lineup played together
- Win-Loss record (e.g., 21-13, 9-5)
- OFF Rating - Offensive efficiency
- DEF Rating - Defensive efficiency
- Note showing how many games these 5 players started together
- Click to view all combinations for detailed lineup statistics
8. Detailed Lineup Combinations
Click on "Click to view all combinations" to see detailed lineup statistics:
- 5er Kombinationen - Full starting five lineups
- 4er Kombinationen - Four-player combinations
- 3er Kombinationen - Three-player combinations
- 2er Kombinationen - Two-player combinations
For each combination, you can see:
- GAMES - Number of games played together
- W-L - Win-Loss record
- WIN% - Winning percentage
- OFF - Offensive rating
- DEF - Defensive rating
- NET - Net rating (OFF - DEF)
9. Historical Analysis - Detailed View
In the Historical Analysis modal, you can explore:
- Multiple model predictions for each past game
- Confidence levels shown with percentage bars
- Actual game results (displayed in color-coded boxes)
- Model accuracy breakdown by category:
- Stats Models accuracy
- Strength Models accuracy
- ELO Models accuracy
- Combined Models accuracy
- Individual Model Predictions table showing each model's prediction accuracy
- Filter by date range to analyze specific periods
10. Start Analysis - Lineup Predictions
Once you've selected both lineups, click "Start Analysis" to see:
- Offensive (OFF) and Defensive (DEF) ratings for each team
- Total predicted score
- Detailed lineup breakdowns for Starting Five and bench players
- Individual player contributions (RAPTOR ratings)
11. Historical Analysis - Past Predictions
Click "Historical Analysis" in the header to:
- View past predictions and their accuracy
- See how well each ML model performed
- Compare predicted scores vs actual results
- Analyze model performance over time
- Filter by date range to see specific periods
